The overall smart TV market was worth $86 billion in 2010 and should top $265 billion by 2016, analysts say.Recognition for the hardware is likewise stepping out of the tech sector. The Television Academy of Arts and Sciences feted Yahoo Connected TV with an Engineering Plaque at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Engineering Awards.But there's just one rapidly growing problem: clutter.Naturally app developers are eager to get in the game, with Netflix, Hulu Plus and HBO Go leading the pack followed by niche players like Angry Birds, which will receive its own channel of games and short films on Samsung's 2012 TV models. LG announced this year's hardware will include access to 1,300 apps, a potentially overwhelming number. Of apps available at launch on virtually all platforms, streaming apps like Netflix are the most accessed, and hardware manufacturers are embracing the brand awareness. Web-enabled set-top box Roku, for example, has branded buttons for Netflix, Pandora and Crackle apps built directly into the controller."All of this provides a great 'out of the box' experience for consumers," said Eric Berger, exec veep of digital networks for Sony, which owns Crackle. LG followed, touting its LG Apps TV platform of proprietary applications. 'Woman In Black' Poster Warns To 'Fear Her Curse'

There's less than a month until we'll have the pleasure to be absolutely terrified by see Daniel Radcliffe make his first post-"Harry Potter" film debut in "The Woman in Black," and we couldn't be more excited. Judging by your passionate response in the MTV Movie Brawl 2012, we're guessing that most of you feel the same way. That's why we're pretty stoked that a new poster for the flick has made its way to the web. Empire got their hands on the new image, which places Radcliffe front and center. Though he has a variety of prestigious costars -- from Ciaran Hinds to Janet McTeer -- it's been nice to see that his involvement is the selling point of the movie. We're going to make the assumption that his character, a father and lawyer named Arthur Kipps, has taken many steps away from "Potter" judging by this image and the previous trailers released. An earlier UK quad that was released featured the tagline "Do you believe in ghosts?" Now four and a half months later, the flick is going a different route. Instead of asking if we believe ghosts exist, the new quad is warner we should "fear her curse." This elusive woman in black does not seem like a very nice lady. At least both of these posters are better than the one featuring a photo of two babies with their eyes gouged out of it, and then the tagline "What did they see?" That one was absolutely terrifying. Actress Denise Darcel dies

Denise Darcel, the French-born actress known for vampy roles in such films as "Vera Cruz" and "Thunder in the Pines," died Dec. 23 at a Los Angeles hospital from complications from an emergency surgery to repair a ruptured aneurysm. She was 87.After coming to the U.S. in 1947, Darcel starred opposite several leading men in a string of films in the '50s, including "Battleground" with Van Johnson, "Tarzan and the Slave Girl" with Lex Barker, "Westward the Women" with Robert Taylor and "Young Man with Ideas" with Glenn Ford.She most famously played a vivacious double-crossing countess in 1954's "Vera Cruz" alongside Burt Lancaster and Gary Cooper.Darcel is survived by two sons.
