Joss Whedon talks The Cabin Within The Forest
Total Film swept up with Joss Whedon lately to discuss The Cabin Within The Forest, the genre-hacking, invention-spewing horror he created and co-authored.Keen to obtain some understanding of the thinking behind it, we requested Whedon concerning the inspiration behind Cabin."It's essentially a really loving hate letter," he told us."On some level it had been completely a lark, me and Came [Goddard, director] trying to puzzle out exactly what the most fun we're able to have could be. On another level it is a serious critique of the items we like and what we should don't about horror movies."By himself genre passion, he added, "I really like being scared. I really like that combination of thrill, of horror, that objectification/identification factor of wanting certainly for anyone to become okay but simultaneously wishing they'll go somewhere dark and face something awful."As well as on the items he hates about lame horror, Whedon stated: "Things that I do not like are kids acting like idiots, the devolution from the horror movie into torture porn and right into a lengthy number of sadistic comeuppances.
